What is the time constant for the discharge of the capacitors in the figure (linked below)?

Total resistance = 1 + 1 = 2 k ohm (R)

Total capacitance = 1/(1/2 + 1/2) = 1 micro farad (C)

Time constant = RC = 2 x 1000 x 1 x 0.000001 = 0.002 seconds

= 2 milliseconds
